Amidst reason happenings around the world came a new trend which seemed to shake the internet quite well where people started posting animated posts of themselves in social media. While it is the typical way on how social media works this trend known as the Ghibli trend did stir things up a bit. A wish come true for people who wanted to see an animated version of themselves to chaos and controversy from the creators. With a longer introduction than usual join me as i show you on how Ghibli originated and it's popularity.

Starting its journey in 1985, Studio Ghibli was founded by Hayao Miyazaki ,Isao Takatha, and producer Toshio Suzuki. Also while featuring a detailed background showing intricate details and settings. Ghibli characters are also known for their expressive eyes and portraying emotions. The film's theme primarily focuses on lives of youth, especially school children, common themes include risks possessed by progression in culture to tradition, independent female protagonists, the cost of war and youth.

Some facts about the Studio:


  • Studio Ghibli has its dedicated museum which opened its doors in 2001. It showcases the studio's work made over the years while highlighting the key moments in the Studio's history.

  • The name "Ghibli" in Italian means a how desert wind. It was chosen with a intent of a blowing a new wind on Japanese Animation. All these years later i think what they intended was correct.

  • The Studio is known for its strict no cut policy for international releases.This is to ensure that the films artistic integrity doesn't get disturbed due to censor cuts.

  • Hayao Miyazaki doesn't use a Storyboard while developing his Animation. While this can be challenging it can help produce an organic storytelling. Miyazaki doesn't know how his film will end when he starts developing them.

  • Studio Ghibli's first film Castle in the Sky(1986) contains a Morse Code. There is a chase scene where a Morse code can be heard which translates to "Shoot Down Quickly".

  • Most of Studio Ghibli films contain Anti War Messages which Reflects Miyazaki's Childhood.

While it seemed fun at first later concerns regrading Copyright and questioning AI's capability on replacing traditional Artist's and it's impact on the Art industry were raised in several areas. Miyazaki himself dissapproved Ai generate animation calling it "an insult to life itself". He further expressed that AI animation cannot replace traditional Animation as it doesn't have the genuine human experience and emotions required for creating an Art. A copylight was issued however it was proven fake by the studio itself claming they don't issue such warnings.
